What I Have Learned on Criminology

Even though this class was teaching us how to write, and it also help me learn more about my major which is criminology. They are so many things you could with this major that science is so important and solving a crime help bring closure to the victims' families. I learn this from some scientist from the  State Crime Lab that they are so many positions to work in with any degree.

The degrees you need is Biology or Chemistry Masters, which I though I needed to get a Criminology degree. For instance, Doctor Author Canon Doyle, who has helped solve crimes doing his career. Sherlock Holmes is one of the fictional characters that he wrote in his books and short-stories. He should so many scientist that is okay to open a body to find the bullet or he could dissect if the person is sick. Without this Doctor we probably not able to figure out how to solve a crime. Everyday is a challenge of what is the new way of solving a crime.

I was so grateful that my writing has improved a lot since I started this class. That in most classes you just learn so much of grammar, how to structure the essay, and just give you three choices of what to write about. This class you able to pick a subject which was a difficult decision to make and this is why I was happy to pick Criminology to be my choice of a topic.

The Right to Protect Your Property

During my weekends I go to a friends house and we like to discuss interesting topics. The topic we totally had a huge debate on was the right to shoot whoever enters your property. The debate got pretty interesting because one of my friends and I had the same opinion.

My other said he would shoot the person who enters his house because he is stealing the TV. My friend and I would not shoot the person especially if we do not know he or she side of the story. Why if she or he was involved in a crime or a young teenager.

You should not shoot if they steal the TV but the person who does probably has the right to protect their property and family. Even if they steal the TV or a cell phone in my opinion it does it matter if they steal something of mine and no one could replace me or who ever is part of my life.

Shooting someone means you are taking that persons life. With killing someone's life will mean that person will have no future and could have change with help from a friend or someone who could help out solve the issue that would have help from going to another place to rob a house.

Mapping

What if I were to tell you that the Criminal Justice the investigators use mapping for the suspects of where they would be. Mapping is a big thing on solving a crime because knowing where the victims were by mapping where they were coming from or heading to a location. On Castle Detective Beckett uses the computer system to track where the body was found and where the murder happened. It could be miles from the crime scene but they try to do the radius.

One of the suspects is heading back home and he see is a lady on a way and decides to rape her. The lady goes to the police to report that she was sexually assaulted. When she does that she has to tell her location and if she has seen him before.

She takes them to the location where the scene of the crime started and she that is how the cops or detectives how to minimize, who to suspect. Question suspects is part of the key to mapping which way they were heading and going to the same location. The lady is helping to let them know where to find him. He could coming from work and heading home.

The help with the lady they find the suspect who works about a quarter of a mile. He tells the detectives that he could not control himself and she wanted it so badly because she was a prostitute. After telling the detectives he gets 20 years in prison.

Detectives

In movies or shows we only see what detectives do doing a limit of the time show base. They are the field investigators in Criminal Justice team who go ask questions to suspects. Detectives may also be a private investigators or working in police unit trying to solve cases.

To be a detective you have to be very skilled to question a suspect for the crime they probably were suspected of doing. One show that shows someone questioning the suspect like in Castle Detective Beckett is asking the suspect of what they were doing the time free of the murdered and if the suspect have a witness of the where about he or she was of the time of murdered. It takes weeks for a detective to solve a crime.

The detectives have to consider who or what was the victim involve like drugs, family issues or other business. They take their time to collect the information due to sending evidence to the labs which could take days or weeks. Sometimes the evidence could be set back due contamination of the crime scene.

One example on CSI: NY one of the detectives Aiden Burn was trying to solve a rape case which could not be solve and so she opened one of the evidence to frame of the suspects, who she wanted to put away. The suspect already raped another person, whom had did not remember what happened or not knowing who the person that raped but remembered how he smelled and Burn found the suspect.

Detectives have a hard job that a huge risk in their field, but they want to help the victims get some closure. Even though they know how long it will take to solve the crime. Trying to be a detective could take sometime due to going to school and getting tons of training.

State Crime Labs Run with Fees

Someone may wonder how the labs are run being run by funds or government money. It is run by state with funds that we some of the people think that the money comes from the government and some scandalous things happen at the state lab. It is semi different of what we see on criminal shows and some of the facts could be false of how a lab is being run. On CSI they have one person look at one part of the crime; for example someone looks up whom the DNA belongs to or looks up what the car tire is from a certain automobile.

Sela Ward one of the Detectives from CSI: NY
Crime labs are run by the state which analysis the report to police agency or the state attorney general. The labs run by the state will sometimes bring scandalous crimes that have been going for a couple of years. The labs also have to stay clean and organize especially with all the evidence they get to analyze it.

CSI the labs are so organize when especially if one of the cases is not the same as the other ones. In CSI: NY one of the Detectives one trying to put one of the suspects in jail because she new he did rape one of victims and she up getting fired from her boss, who realized that one of the packages was opened up again.

State labs are being funded by the jurisdiction from any conviction of any type. The amounts per conviction could run from ten dollars to six hundred. The ten dollars is for each guilty or verdict so they could speed the ticket process. A few states pay upon conviction.

The convictions vary in different states; for instance in North Carolina they are require paying the fee of $600 fees for criminal cases to be charged. In Washington it is required $100 by conviction for a fee, and Kansas is $400 for individual at a forensics or laboratory services.

The fees could be play day to date at labs daily especially when evidence is being shipped to get look over to see if it has DNA or some kind of evidence that could miss by an eye plus it is good to check twice if there was anything miss by the detective or field person who did not see it. The crime lab is one of the best because they are part of team scientist who helps part of the process of solving a crime. In CSI the shows have the scientist and the detectives are a tight knit family that will be willing to help each other out.
